Terms of Service
Last updated: March 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading or using the Abuelito app and services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. These terms constitute a legal agreement between you and the Abuelito team. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our products or services.
2. Nature of the Service
Abuelito is a conversational AI companion powered by advanced language models. It is designed to keep elderly users company, deliver reminders, and help families stay connected.
AI Limitations: Like all AI systems, Abuelito may occasionally produce responses that are incomplete, imprecise, or unintended. Its responses are conversational in nature — family members and caregivers should use their own judgment and verify any information that matters.
3. Health & Wellness Notice
Please read carefully:
- Abuelito is a companionship and reminder tool, not a healthcare service. It is not approved or intended for medical diagnosis, treatment, or monitoring.
- Wellness tips, hydration reminders, and activity suggestions provided by Abuelito are general in nature and should not replace advice from a qualified health professional.
- Always consult a doctor or pharmacist for decisions about medications, symptoms, or health conditions.
- Medication reminders are a convenience feature only. Do not rely solely on Abuelito for managing critical medications.
4. Safety & Emergency Notice
- Abuelito cannot place calls to emergency services. In Spain the emergency number is 112. Please ensure your loved one knows how to use it.
- Abuelito is a companion app, not a personal emergency response system (PERS) or fall-detection device.
- The SOS alert feature notifies designated family members by notification — it does not contact professional emergency services or dispatch help.
- Families are responsible for ensuring the app user has reliable access to emergency services independent of Abuelito.
5. User Responsibilities
- Configuration: The account holder (family admin) is responsible for ensuring contacts, reminders, and family member information are entered correctly in the family app.
- Internet Connection: The Abuelito app requires an active internet connection to function. We are not responsible for service interruptions caused by connectivity outages or third-party network issues.
- Supervision: While Abuelito is designed to support elderly care, it does not replace human supervision or professional caregiving. Family members remain responsible for the wellbeing of their loved ones.
6. Privacy & Data
All communications between the Abuelito app and our servers are encrypted in transit. Family data is only accessible to authorized family members you invite. We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for advertising purposes. Voice interactions may be processed by third-party AI providers under their respective privacy policies. For full details, please review our Privacy Policy.
7. Limitation of Liability
In no event shall Abuelito or its operators be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of the use or inability to use the service, including but not limited to damages for loss of data, medical injuries, or failure to alert contacts. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount paid by you for the service in the last 12 months.
8. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
